About This Project

Activating a vacant space for Melbourne’s creative community, ADA Consulting collaboratively launched Cecil Place Precinct with a show-stopping one night art event at Chapel Street’s Union Bank that combined architecture, fashion, art and performance.

‘Total Recall,’ curated by Paola Di Trocchio, featured an innovative runway presentation of National Designer Award winner and Vogue Vanguard designer Amy Lawrance’s stunning handcrafted gowns.

This event played the heritage beauty of The Union Bank against Lawrance’s timeless, genre-defying handcrafted garments—her use of natural fibres and raw materials spoke to the aged, bare walls of the building with it’s iconic arched windows and ceiling moulding.

Opportunities to activate otherwise vacant spaces and create opportunities for the unique voices of artists and creatives are imperative to placemaking.
