About This Project

The new Preston Station features an innovative urban design with a major site-responsive public artwork, The Playful Exchange, by NSW-based artist Sanne Mestrom.

Sanne’s playable sculpture features concrete and bronze elements and offers a space for the Preston community to come together. Celebrating and contributing to the vibrant tapestry of Preston’s migrant and multicultural history, The Playful Exchange embodies the essence of connection and belonging.

We are delighted to announce that Preston Station has been shortlisted for the 2025 Australian Urban Design Awards in the Built Outcomes category.
