About This Project

Photography by Tim Gresham, courtesy the artist.

‘Somewhere’ refers to a place in the viewers mind, an imagined place, created by artist Kristin McIver as part of the Yorkshire Brewery re-development, public art strategy. The position of the artwork at the end of the lane way, which opens up to the courtyard of the development, entices the viewer beyond the street and invites them to venture through the lane way to enter the ‘Somewhere’ beyond.
Medium: neon and steel.

Built on the heritage-listed site in Collingwood, with its magnificent six-storey brick-brewing tower, the Yorkshire Brewery consists of boutique apartments, townhouses, bike parking and multi use communal areas for residents.

MARS worked with artists David Burrows, Kristin McIver and Kate Mitchell to deliver three unique public art works located throughout the development, which responded site specifically to the space.
