About This Project

The Level Crossing Removal Project was established by the Victorian Government to oversee the largest rail infrastructure project in the state’s history.

Central to the project is the elimination of 75 level crossings across metropolitan Melbourne by 2025. This major transport infrastructure project will deliver other rail network upgrades such as new train stations, track duplication and new community open spaces.

ADA have joined forces with LXRP to create a positive cultural legacy for Melbourne through placemaking and integrating artworks and creative elements throughout the program of works. Planning for public art in LXRP projects will enhance urban amenity and contribute to a sense of place and local identity.

ADA are continuing to work collaboratively with LXRP, Urban Design teams, Traditional Owner Groups, local communities, artists and other key stakeholders to ensure the best possible experience of public art for transport users, local residents and visitors for years to come.
