“Waa”, realised for Edithvale Station under the LXRP’s Southern Program Alliance, was installed in August. Following a curatorial process undertaken in collaboration with the Bunurong land council, the work was created by Jenna Lee.
“Waa” is named for a black crow, a protector of the land and waterways. Created of post-industrial recycled sheeting, the piece pays homage to the once vast Carrum Carrum Swamp, a fraction of which still remains as the nearby Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands. It can be seen by cars and pedestrians along the station’s border with the Nepean Highway.
